What operating system do you have?
These instructions install a full system (base plus all addons) in the default location.
Windows Step 1
There are 3 environments for using J:
Click above on the IDE you want to install. Most people choose JQt.
Windows Step 2
Download and run one of the All-in-One Installers:
Install in the default folder suggested, which will be something like:
C:\Users\elmo\j804 for 32-bit C:\Users\elmo\j64-804 for 64-bit
2. Double-click the green J icon on the desktop (titled JQt or JQt64) to start Jqt.
Windows Step 3: Install Addons
Start a J session, and then perform the following steps in the Jqt window to install the addons.
- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Select Tools|Package Manager from the menu.
- Press the Select All button.
- Press the Install button.
Installation Is Complete!
Mac Step 1
These instructions apply to Mac 10.7 or later.
1. Download the All-in-One Installer:
It takes a while to set up the user directories; be patient.
2. Double-click the dmg file and move the j64-804 folder to your Applications directory.
3. Double-click the green J icon in Applications/j64-804 to start Jqt.
Mac Step 2: Install Addons
Start a J session, and then perform the following steps in the Jqt window to install the addons.
- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Select Tools|Package Manager from the menu.
- Press the Select All button.
- Press the Install button.
Installation Is Complete!
Consider trying JHS.
To Update Addons Later
Perform the following steps in the Jqt window to bring the addons up to date.
- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Select Tools|Package Manager from the menu.
- Press the Update button.
- Press the Not Installed button.
- Press the Install button.
